In this article, you'll learn how to add your banking information to receive payments from Kobo Writing Life. Follow a step-by-step guide to enter your bank details, including selecting your country, entering your bank branch details, and providing your account information.
Our payments are sent via Electronic Fund Transfer. You may need to contact your bank to confirm the information you’ll need to receive this type of payment.
Adding your banking information
To add your bank details, navigate to the “My Account” dropdown at the top right of the Dashboard, and select “Payment Information”.
1. Select your country.
First you will select the country your bank is located in. You’ll see the following screen
Select your country and the screen will now offer additional options.
You’ll see your currency has been chosen already. This is because we pay specific currencies depending on your country. By default, if we do not support your local currency, we’ll pay you in USD.
2. Enter bank branch details.
Next you will enter the SWIFT Code, Routing Number or IBAN associated with your currency setting. Each currency has a specific requirement, and our banking page will specify exactly what you need (in this example, for USD, it tells you that you need an ABA or bank routing number).
Enter your bank’s routing code and click “Search branch locations”.
Here’s a list of the information that each currency requires:
AUD |
– Valid 6 digit Bank State Branch (BSB) Code |
CAD |
– 5-12 digit account number and valid 9 digit transit code |
EUR |
– Valid IBAN |
GBP |
– Valid IBAN |
HKD |
– Valid six digit Hong Kong Clearing Code |
NZD |

3. Select your bank branch.
You will now see a list of search results, containing all the relevant branches of your bank. Select the branch where you opened your account. You can filter by address, street name, state, and more. If there are too many results to display on one page, you will see page numbers below the results list.
Find and click on your bank branch in this list.
4. Enter your account details.
Once you have selected your bank branch, you will be able to add your bank account number and account holder name.
Click “Save changes” on the right, and you are done!
